If I am to define myself briefly, I will say that I am a human being interested in everything that has to do with "being". As a human, I will never be perfect, but I will always be in pursuit of development. Development, is my specialty. Innovative, is how I define my mentality. Interdisciplinarity, could summarize my personality. While aiming for the best results, is what I consider part of my morality.

It is not only others who struggle to understand me; I also struggle to understand myself quite often. If I were amid a group of scholars, they would think that I am their peer. If I am talking to businessmen, they will be assured that I am in the business tier. When I am talking to engineers of various fields, they infer the close familiarity I have with their spheres. This rhetoric is repeated with artists, diplomats, hard workers, and almost everybody that I meet. Who are you? I get this question time and again from everybody, even those who are close to me. As I really don’t have an answer, my response is usually the same: I am Amer.
Not until I graduated from my Bachelor’s degree that I came to focus thoroughly on the meaning of my name. Amer, there are numerous meanings to this name. The root meaning of it, however, entails a “prosperer”, a “Flourisher, or a “developer”. In other words, not until I graduated from my Bachelor’s in Global and Development Studies, and worked in various developmental roles, that I came to notice that my name means the “developer”. Isn’t it a clear sign that I am on the path I was born for?

My passion to innovate, enhance, and come up with solutions was there since I was a kid. That was clearly reflected in my fearless, yet cautious character. By the age of 20, this risk-taking character established two entrepreneurial projects. A fast-food restaurant in Sudan, and a recruitment agency in UAE. 20 years old is pretty young; however, we are living in a world in which age is just a number. When I established my first business by the age of 19, I was not actually that freshener with no experience. Before that, I was handling logistics management in UAE for a very successful online store in Sudan. I was bargaining prices every week and handling logistical complexities. Moreover, I was also running a small yearly philanthropic fundraising, which is still ongoing. Furthermore, I was selected by the administration for a students' well-being and social consultant role called “big brother”. I was also elected by the students for the position of “class representatives chairperson”. In both experiences, I was consulted by students and the administration for solutions to problems faced by both. Therefore, other than my personal problems, I was expected to solve the problems of other students as well. This exposure to a variety of problems allowed me to break the fear and begin my entrepreneurial journey at a young age.

These 2 entrepreneurial experiences opened my eyes to the world and paved me the way for various other opportunities. Although they did not last for long, they taught me lessons that would last with me forever. In the following years, while undertaking my BA as well, I was a member of an international student NGO called UnaEuropa. An organization that aims to design the university of the future. I also worked as a European project manager for another vibrant Italian NGO called EXTRAMUS. I was involved in more than five projects. While indulging in all of that, I graduated at the top of my batch with a complete grade of 5/5 from the best and most prestigious university in Poland. Followingly, I received an offer from the multi-disciplinary Global Studies University in Sharjah. A newly established post-graduate studies university, which I foresee to be among the best in the world in less than a decade. I was offered to be among a distinguished post-graduate cohort in Global African Studies, specializing in Diplomacy and International Relations. To utilize every second of this educational journey, I am also doing two other Master’s at the same time. One of them is in Development and International Cooperation Studies at the largest university in Europe, Sapienza University. Whereas the other is in Project Management at WSB University.

While overlooking a number of certificates and roles, I would like to conclude with the following: “Live to learn, and learn to live”, is a quote that I embrace. I consider every moment of my life as a valuable phase. To everywhere I go, I try to leave a remarkable positive trace. The world is wide, and everyone has a different chase. The chase of mine, is to contribute to making the world a better place.
